Mr LIONEL BOWEN (Leader of the House)(10.37) —I move:

That, unless otherwise ordered, Government Business take precedence of General Business on each day of sitting until the Appropriation Bill (No. 1) 1983-84, the Appropriation Bill (No. 2) 1983-84 and the Appropriation (Parliamentary Departments) Bill 1983-84 have passed all stages in the House.

This is a normal notice of motion for this time of the year, the idea of which is to allow the Appropriation debates to take place, and in that sense every honourable member has a chance to participate. To that extent, General Business debates are postponed until we complete the Appropriation Bills. I do not think that I need say any more. It has been customary for both sides of the House, when in government, to move this type of motion to enable the Appropriation Bill debate to continue. I foreshadow that it will continue tomorrow; certainly tomorrow evening. We hope that there will be an extensive debate on the Appropriation Bill, in which every honourable member can participate.
