Discussion of Matter of Public Importance

Mr SPEAKER —I have received a letter from the honourable member for Darling Downs (Mr McVeigh) proposing that a definite matter of public importance be submitted to the House for discussion, namely:

The serious threat to the stability of Australia's rural communities caused by the Government's contemptuous and discriminatory treatment of primary industries .

I call upon those members who approve of the proposed discussion to rise in their places.

More than the number of members required by the Standing Orders having risen in their places-

Mr Keogh-Mr Speaker, I take a point of order. I think that the honourable member for Darling Downs has made a mistake in his letter and he is referring to the Queensland Government, not this Government.

Mr SPEAKER —Order! There is no point of order.
