To the Honourable the Speaker and Members of the House of Representatives in Parliament assembled. The humble petition of citizens of the Commonwealth submits:

That the mining of uranium in Australia, the proposed development of a uranium enrichment industry in Australia, together with the possibilities of resumed atomic weapons testing in the Pacific and dumping of radioactive waste in this region, constitute a serious threat to the health and well-being of all Australian and Pacific people for many generations to come.

Your Petitioners request that your Honourable House will:

1. Stop the mining and export of Australian uranium, except for medical and research purposes.

2. Actively oppose the development of uranium enrichment and nuclear power plants, the testing of nuclear weapons, and the disposal of radioactive waste in the Australian and Pacific region.

3. Significantly increase research into alternative energy sources.

And your petitioners as in duty bound will ever pray.
