Dr Everingham asked the Prime Minister, upon notice, on 3 May 1983:

Will he establish a departmental division, bureau, commission, task force or working party to promote or investigate the advisability of providing peace studies, including study of issues raised in the report of the Second Congress of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, pages 373-382, Journal of the Royal College of General Practitioners, June 1982.

Mr Hawke —The answer to the honourable member's question is as follows:

In accordance with the Government's policy, the Minister for Foreign Affairs has asked his Department to commence a study on the establishment of a Peace and Development Studies Institute.
