Mr HURFORD (Minister for Housing and Construction) —by leave-I would have liked to acknowledge at greater length the work of the Public Works Committee and the excellence of its forty-sixth report, but I merely say this: The Committee, in the view of the Government-certainly in my view-exercises a responsibility on behalf of the taxpayers of Australia for public works. This is a very valuable and healthy responsibility and is, I believe, a very necessary discipline on departments and authorities. The forty-sixth general report of the Committee makes a number of observations and raises a number of matters which warrant further attention by Ministers. I will ensure that those matters are brought to Minister's attention and are examined carefully and promptly by them. I congratulate the Committee on its work.
