REPORT OF THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE.

The LIBRARY CoMMITTEE has the honour to report as follows :--1. Since the last Report, which was presented on 15th December, 1905, the number of books in the Library·has increased from 11,288 to 13,242, not including bound volumes of newspapers, which now number 704. In addition, about 80

volumes of the Argus, making the Library set almost complete from 1852, are awaiting binding, as are also 464 volumes of the Papers of the Imperial Par liament, presented through His Majesty's Stationery Office.

2. A catalogue of the books in the Library, the preparation of which was referred to in the last Report, was completed and published during the recess, and copies have been placed in the hands of Members. The Committee trusts that this catalogue will be of service to Members, in displaying to them the resources of the

Library, and that it will also enable them to understand the lines on which the Committee has been working since the first books were purchased in 1902.

3. The collection of literature relating to Australia is steadily growing, and no opportunity is lost of enlarging it. The Committee is deeply indebted to various donors for contributions to the Library, and ventures to express the hope that Members of both Houses, as well as other patriotic citizens, will continue to add to the list.
