Local�Member�encourages�local�business�groups�and�employer� services�to�work�with�Employer�Brokers� �

The�Federal�Member�for�Eden�Mo naro,�Mike�Kelly�AM�MP,�i s�encouraging�local�businesses,�training� and�employer�service�providers�to�apply�for�fundi ng�under�the�Rudd�Government’s�new�$6�million� Employer�Broker�fund.�� �

Dr�Kelly�said�Employer�Brokers�including�NSW� TAFE�will�work�with�employers,�employment�service� and�training�providers� locally�to�deliver�projects�that�will�bring� together�the�needs�of�business�and�job� seekers.�

� Panel�members�include�peak�i ndustry�bodies,�not�for�profit �organisations�and�training�organisations� which�are�eligible�to�apply�for�funds�under �the�Government’s�new�$6�million�Employer�Broker�fund.� The�NSW�panel�members�were�announced�this �week�by�Employment� Participation,�Minister�Brendan�

O’Connor�include;�NSW�TAFE�and�Disability�Works�Australia.� � The�fund�is�part�of�the�Rudd �Government’s�new�employment�services�which� will�begin�on�July�1�and� will�establish�Employer�Brokers�in�specific�regions�or�industries.� �

Dr�Kelly�said:� “Employer�Brokers�will�make�sure�that �the�new�employment�services�have�a�strong� focus�on�matching�the�needs�o f�job�seekers�with�the�labour�requirements�of�employers.� � “Across�Eden�Monaro�there�are�a�number�of�diverse �labour�requirements�which�n eed�to�be�met,�and� this�program�will�be�able�to�assist� employers�cater�for�the�labour� needs.�

� “I�would�invite�and�welcome�local�Chambers�of� Commerce�groups,�other�local�non�government� organisations�and�employment�providers�to�apply�for� funding�of�up�to�$100,000�assistance�to�work� with�these�Employer�Brokers�to�get�better�employm ent�outcomes�for�our�local�businesses�and�job� seekers.� � “Employer�Broker�activities�will�focus �on�disadvantaged�locations�and�will�complement�other�

Australian�Government�initiatives.� � “The�Employer�Brokers�are�here�to�see�that�employe r�needs�are�heard,�understood�and�are�being� responded�to�with�work�ready�job�seekers,�with �the�right�skills�for�the�job.� � “This�is�another�example�of�the� Rudd�Labor�Government�working �hard�for�small�business�to�solve�

staffing�issues,�skills�shortages�and�help�meet� employers’�real�current�staffing �needs�despite�the� global�economic�crisis.� � “In�this�current�economic�climate�this� program�will�help�match�the�right �employees�to�the�right� businesses.�

� “I�look�forward�to�seeing�the �benefits�of�this�program �locally”,�said�Dr�Kelly.� �
