Australian Institute of Criminology Director reappointed

The Minister for Home Affairs Brendan O’Connor today announced the reappointment of Dr Adam Tomison as Director of the Australian Institute of Criminology for the next four years.

“Dr Tomison has a strong background in both criminological research and organisational management and has made a positive contribution in leading the AIC since being appointed in July 2009,” Mr O’Connor said.

Mr O’Connor said Dr Tomison’s reappointment will ensure an effective transition to changes in the structure of the AIC and the Criminology Research Council, which are expected to commence in mid-2011.

“The proposed changes will improve the financial and governance arrangements of the AIC and CRC, as well as integrating the organisations into a single body,” Mr O’Connor said.

The changes are part of the Financial Framework Legislation Amendment Bill introduced into Parliament on 23 June 2010.
