Federal Member for Mallee John Forrest says he’s confident Sunraysia’s hospitality during the Country Music Festival starting Friday can help boost tourism numbers to the region in coming months.

“Word of mouth is one of the best and cheapest marketing tools we have,” Mr Forrest said.

“Making our visitors welcome ensures they return, especially in times when family budgets require a holiday closer to home.

“Our country music visitors always provide a wonderful opportunity for the message about all things good in Sunraysia being spread far and wide.

“I’m often told by people outside the region, that they like coming to Mildura, Swan Hill and other destinations along the Murray, where there’s a relaxed lifestyle and the locals are happy and helpful.

“There’s water in the Murray, we have beautiful mornings and days.

“Sometimes we forget how lucky we are.”

Mr Forrest said when people, even from Melbourne, did their sums on the higher cost of fuel, they usually found it was still quite affordable and didn’t add much to the cost of a holiday in Mildura.

“And when they get here, there’s plenty to do because our tourism asset is so diverse,” Mr Forrest said.
