Senator Ron Boswell National Party - Queensland Media Release - 29 April 2004

B2004/50 - Child care support funds for Mt Isa The Remote Area Family Service in Mt Isa will receive $17,400 from the Australian Government to purchase a new vehicle, the Leader of The Nationals in the Senate, Ron Boswell, announced today.

Senator Boswell said the funding would ensure that families in the Mt Isa region maintained access to quality children’s services.

“This funding demonstrates the Government’s strong ongoing commitment to families in Australia’s rural, remote areas and it will ensure that these services in Mt Isa can continue to support local families.”

“In rural and regional areas, families often have fewer child care choices than their city counterparts, and it is important that where possible, services in these areas are given additional support.

“Improving access to quality child care for families was a key priority of the Australian Government and this investment in Child Care services around Australia is good news for rural families.

“Our government is committed to providing affordable and quality child care services for all Australian families, regardless of where they live.”

Families who need more information about child care can call the Australian Government’s Child Care Access Hotline on 1800 670 305.
