Tambo families the winners from Federal Funding

Families of young children living in Tambo will soon benefit from improved childcare services, Federal Member for Maranoa, Bruce Scott announced today.

Mr Scott said the Disadvantaged Area Subsidy (DAS) funding would ensure that families with young children would continue to be able to benefit from centre-based childcare.

“This $22,635 Federal Government subsidy demonstrates the Coalition Government’s commitment to providing all families with access to quality childcare services regardless of where they live,” Mr Scott said.

“I am sure parents and children who use this service will welcome the high quality care and first rate facilities that are available.”

Mr Scott said that the funding would go to the Tambo Shire Council, which operates the centre and provides management support for the service.

“Funding such as this helps to provide childcare services in rural and remote areas that could not otherwise support mainstream services,” he said.

“We recognise that without access to flexible childcare, families in rural and remote regions are often forced to travel long distances to access the type of care that people in larger towns and cities take for granted.

“The availability of quality childcare offers flexibility and choice for people on the land, making it easier for parents to balance the demands of work and family life.”

Mr Scott said that families using these services would be able to claim Child Care Benefit to assist with the cost of care.

Families who need information about childcare should call the Commonwealth Government’s national Childcare Access Hotline on 1800 670 305.
