The Nationals Federal Member for Mallee, John Forrest is delighted with the announcement by Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Transport and Regional Services, De-Anne Kelly that Australian Government funds would be used to relocate the Charlton Pony Club.

The Buloke Shire Council has been granted $41,459 in Regional Partnerships programme funding for the relocation of the Charlton Pony Club which will include the construction of a new Pony Club building, incorporating toilets, showers and kitchen facilities as well as the relocation of the pony jumping courses.

Mr Mark Amirtharajah, CEO of the Buloke Shire also welcomed the funds. “The relocation of the Pony Club will enable the expansion of the local Harness Racing Club’s track which will bring additional income into the community,” said Mr Amirtharajah.

Dr Ian MacBean, Chair of Central Victoria Area Consultative Committee (CVACC) thanked the funding partners involved including the Buloke Shire Council, Charlton Pony Club, Charlton Harness Racing Club, Park Users Group and local service clubs.

“This is an exciting project for the people of Charlton and district and I congratulate the Buloke Shire Council and the Central Victoria Area Consultative Committee for the work put into this application, “said Mr Forrest.

“They have shown a great deal of foresight and initiative, by working together with the other funding partners in developing a project worth $118,599 consisting of cash and in-kind contributions.”
