Media Release Kevin Andrews Minister for Ageing

LEADING health care manager Mark Brandon has been appointed the new chief executive officer of the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency, Federal Minister for Ageing Kevin Andrews announced today.

Mr Andrews congratulated the Agency Board on its appointment, which was approved by Federal Cabinet on Tuesday.

"Mark Brandon brings to the role an extensive knowledge of the health care sector as well as strong leadership and management experience in large service-based organisations, both government and private," Mr Andrews said.

Mr Brandon, 49, has most recently been a consultant to the Australian Health Management Group. Before that he was the National Operations Manager for Medibank Australia.

Mr Andrews also announced that Ms Elizabeth Pringle has been appointed as the Agency's new General Manager of Education.

"Ms Pringle was the Learning and Development Manager at the Aged & Community Services Association (NSW & ACT) and has an important role to facilitate education and training programs for aged care homes," the Minister said.

Mr Andrews also announced that Federal Cabinet had approved two new appointments to the Agency Board. The new members are Dr Joseph Ibrahim and Shane Fracchia.

"Dr Ibrahim has extensive experience as a consultant physician in geriatric medicine and is currently the Clinical Services Director for Aged Care and Rehabilitation Services at the Williamstown Hospital in Melbourne," the Minister said.

"Shane Fracchia is the chief executive officer of Holy Spirit Aged Care Home in Aspley, Queensland and will bring to the Board expertise in strategic planning and development, with a strong focus on implementing best practice methodology."
