Chifley College

There is only one thing better than having the new Mt Druitt multi campus College called ' Chifley and that will be the day that it is opened," claimed a delighted Federal Member for. Chifley, Mr Roger Price MP.

I congratulate the Mt Druitt District Council of Parents and Citizens Associations in their choice and applaud the decision of the Minister for Education John Aquilina MP to agree to it.”

“This new College has the potential to herald a new era of educational opportunity for the youth of Mt Druitt. I am very much looking forward to the opening of new Chifley College next year-" Mr Price said.

'Whilst the college will be providing a much wider academic choice for students, it is the changes on the vocational side that I find most exciting. The possibility that students may have dual accreditation with TAFE. They now can go part of the way to satisfying the requirement for apprenticeships and traineeships whilst they are still at school."

"Given Ben Chifley's background not only as Prime Minister but as an engine driver and lecturer at the Railway Institute, it is most appropriate that the College bears his name." Mr Price said.

"Although the Wyndam College at Nirimba and the Dubbo College were announced before the new Chifley College, the fight started here in Mt Druitt."

"My constituents have a proud record of fighting for educational change: the University of Western Sydney, St Mary’s Senior High and now Chifley College." Mr Price said.
