Live Cattle Discussions with Phillippines

Trade Minister, Mark Vaile, will meet with Philippines Secretary for Agriculture Edgardo Angara in Manila later this month in a bid to resolve import permit delays for live cattle.

Live cattle exports to the Philippines topped $130 million last year. However, concern exists that permit delays may

slow the trade this year.

Minister Vaile will meet with Secretary Angara on Thursday, May 25, when he will also outline the process of AQIS import risk analyses, particularly in regard to potential exports of tropical fruits from the Philippines to Australia.

Minister Vaile also hopes to meet with Trade Secretary Roxas, Foreign Secretary Siazon and Finance Secretary Pardo to further strengthen Australia's trade and investment links with the Philippines.
