MINISTER FAREWELLS WWI DIGGERS BOUND FOR FRANCE AGAIN

The four World War I Diggers who will travel to France for the 80 th commemoration of the end of World War I will be farewelled by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Bruce Scott, at the Victoria Barracks in Sydney on Monday, June 29.

The Minister will present Ted Smout and Eric Abraham of Brisbane, Charlie Mance of Sydney and Howard Pope of Adelaide with Australian Army slouch hats just like the ones they wore more than 80 years ago.

The Diggers will travel to France via the UK and will leave on Qantas QF1 to London at 4.45 pm from Mascot. The Minister will join up with the party in France on Thursday.

The Media are invited to attend the farewell at 10.30 am Victoria Baracks, Paddington, on Monday, June 29.
