Is the rumour true, Mr Brumby?

“Reports in today’s Australian Newspaper that the North South Pipeline is under review is good news for irrigators and those who have campaigned against the North-south pipeline,” Federal Member for Murray, Dr Sharman Stone said.

“Until the rumour is turned into reality, the communities of northern Victoria must wait with cautious optimism.

“Premier Brumby must confirm the rumour before all the farmers in northern Victoria give up in despair and sell their water.

“Surely good sense has to prevail with Premier Brumby finally acknowledging the mountain of evidence including the recent Victorian Auditor General’s report that the project is fundamentally flawed,” Dr Stone said.

“As always this just proves that what Labor says and what Labor does are two very different things. It also proves that a community working together can achieve anything. Melbourne is finally listening to our very real concerns.
