Cameron delivers more flexible child care for families 29 May 2002

A new Federal Government initiative is providing more innovative and accessible child care for Parramatta families, The Hon Ross Cameron MP, Federal Member for Parramatta and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Family and Community Services, announced today.

"In-home care is a relatively new model which allows eligible Parramatta families to have child care services provided in their own home by an approved carer," Mr Cameron said.

"It is a targeted measure for Parramatta families who do not have access to a standard child care service, or whose needs can't be met by an existing service.

"In-home care represents a real boost for Parramatta families affected by disability or illness, parents working unusual hours and families with more than two children under school age.

Mr Cameron said that the Federal Government would spend almost $50 million over the four years to 2003-04 to provide 7,770 in-home care places around Australia.

People who wish to get a copy of the new In-home child care booklet can contact the Department of Family and Community Services on 1300 653 227 or my electorate office on 9689-2833.
