Cutting red tape for families in Pearce Tuesday, 2 May 2006

Families in Pearce may be pleased to learn that the Australian Government is simplifying some of the more commonly used Human Services forms for their benefit. Making the recent announcement, Minister for Human Services The Hon Joe Hockey MP says the claim form for the Baby Bonus and/or the Family Tax Benefit which is currently 32 pages, will be replaced by a much simpler four page form. Member for Pearce Hon Judi Moylan MP says this will not only help local families but it will also “reduce the paperwork required by hospitals to verify the birth of a child, as doctors, midwives or hospital administration staff will now provide birth details only once for both Family Assistance and Medicare purposes”. The new form was released this month and is now available in hospitals, Centrelink offices and at Medicare Australia branches. Ms Moylan says the Government is committed to reducing red tape. “The Government is constantly looking for areas where simplifications can be made,” she said. For further information about the new form contact Centrelink- 13 61 50, Medicare-13 20 11 or your local hospital.
