Labor Transport and Maritime Security Task Force visits Karratha

The Federal Labor Transport and Maritime Security Task Force will today visit the Port of Dampier as part of its inquiry into Australia’s transport security system.

The Task Force will meet with local authorities and industry groups for briefings on transport security.

Chair of the Task Force, Anna Burke MP, will be available for comment.

Over the next few weeks, the Task Force will be travelling across Australia to investigate the adequacy of the security arrangements in place to safeguard Australia’s regional airports, land and rail transport.

The Task Force will also focus on the carriage of dangerous cargo in Australian waters and through Australian ports, in particular by foreign owned vessels operating on the Australian coast under permits.
