Advisory Board for the Australian Government Solicitor We are pleased to announce the appointment today of an advisory board for Australian Government Solicitor (AGS), the Attorney-General, Daryl Williams, and the Minister for Finance and Administration, John Fahey, said today.

The establishing members of the board are Mr John Allen, Mr David Hunter, Ms Bronwyn Constance and Mr David Smith. They will be joined on the board by the chief executive officer, Ms Rayne de Gruchy.

Mr Allen runs his own executive search firm in Melbourne and he is also a member of a broad range of boards and committees, including the Victorian Law Reform Advisory Council. His experience in strategic management consulting and marketing will be a useful resource to the advisory board.

Mr Hunter is currently the global managing partner of the Government Division of Andersen Consulting. He has over 20 years experience in working with Government at the federal, state and local level, in areas such as strategic planning and organisational change management.

Ms Constance is the executive general manager of Finance and Services for Pasminco and also a director of Savage Resources Limited. She will bring to the board a range of experience and skills in fields that include legal services market, strategic planning, business systems and accounting.

Mr Smith is currently managing director of Canongate Partners, a publishing company that also provides media and business consulting services. His marketing and customer management skills will be of great value to the board.

We are confident that this team, with its wide range of experience and skills in strategic management, financial management, marketing and business, will be an excellent source of advice to help the AGS enhance its position of excellence in the government legal services market.

The AGS is a wholly-owned Commonwealth statutory authority that provides legal services on a commercial basis, primarily to Commonwealth departments and agencies. The board has been appointed for a term of three years.
