Joanna Gash MP Member for Gilmore

15 March 2006

Member for Gilmore, Joanna Gash, today helped launch a new strategy to help expand the Shoalhaven economy. The initiative, Blueprint Shoalhaven, has been assisted by Australian Government Regional Partnerships program funding of $22,000.

Mrs Gash said the Australian Government funds had helped the Blueprint Shoalhaven organisers draw together key industry players from the defence, tourism, health, ageing and other sectors to identify issues and impediments within the region's business environment and develop action plans to bolster economic development and create jobs.

"This is an exciting project and deserves the backing of the Australian Government," Mrs Gash said. "Blueprint Shoalhaven will develop action plans, through a series of mini summits, for the key sectors of tourism, aged care/health/public service, general business and defence.

Mrs Gash congratulated Blueprint Shoalhaven chairman, Noel Rosskelly, and his team for taking the initiative and working to a common goal. "Mr Rosskelly is a successful businessman in his own right, but he also appreciates the potential for greater success in the Shoalhaven and has thrown his full support behind Blueprint Shoalhaven."

Mrs Gash said the strength of Blueprint Shoalhaven was its broad support. "Blueprint Shoalhaven has attracted funding from the three levels of government and support from across the community and business sector.

"It will show what can be achieved when everyone pulls in the same direction."
