The top priority for the Australian Government is the Industrial Relations reform legislation being introduced today. “This IR Bill is fundamental to the future strength of the Australian economy,” Peter Lindsay MP said today. “Labor’s only answer is to say no, but they still have no alternative policy,” Mr Lindsay said. “This is going to be the most important few sitting weeks this year.” “I went into politics to do things like this and to play my part in the economic history of Australia. Today the Government continues full speed ahead with its ideas and necessary reform,” Mr Lindsay said. “The Anti-Terrorism legislation will shortly be introduced. These are unusual laws but are necessary at this time. They are not being introduced for political window dressing. There are strong reasons for the new laws and they are genuinely needed. “While I wish the laws were not necessary, there is nothing more important than to legislate in the public interest to ensure the continuing security of our country,” Mr Lindsay said.
