Press Release Ref: 954 Published: 13/5/2003 Title: $130,560 in Regional Assistance grants - Snowy Mtns

Eden-Monaro will receive $130,560 for four local employment generating projects,” local member Gary Nairn announced today.

Funding for the projects was provided under the Federal Government’s Regional Assistance Program.

Mr Nairn said one of the successful applications came from the Jindabyne Chamber of Commerce for the Snowy Mountains Celebrity Trout Challenge.

“The Chamber will receive $23,200 to help stage the 3 to 4 day event in October this year,” Mr Nairn said.

“Organisers hope to attract 400 competitors and additional visitors to the area during a traditionally non-peak period.”

Grants were also approved for South Coast Golf Tours, South East Arts Region search map and Sapphire Coast Kart Track and Driver Training facility.

The South East NSW Area Consultative Committee endorsed the successful applications as significant employment generating opportunities for the local community.

“Congratulations to the four successful applicants on all the hard work that went into getting to this point,” Mr Nairn said.

“I look forward to seeing the positive results in the future.”
