YESHIVAH AND BETH RIVKAH COLLEGES BENEFIT FROM AN AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT GRANT

Released on the 15th of November, 2005

Students and staff at Yeshivah and Beth Rivkah Colleges will benefit from an Australian Government grant under the Investing in Our Schools Programme, Senator for Victoria, Judith Troeth announced today.

Senator Troeth said the grant would be used for the refurbishment of facilities at the Yeshivah and Beth Rivkah Colleges.

The project will involve the refurbishment of science laboratories, a computer room, a staff room and associated amenities and the provision of services, furniture and equipment.

"The Investing in Our Schools Programme is an exciting initiative which will deliver much needed funds to less well-off Independent schools in our local communities," Senator Troeth said

"The Australian Government recognises the importance of providing schools with facilities that enhance the education and wellbeing of students."

The Australian Government has provided $250,000 to Yeshivah and Beth Rivkah Colleges to ensure the success of this initiative.

"This project involves a significant amount of funding which demonstrate the Government's continued commitment to a strong an effective school system, maximising the opportunities for young Australians," Senator Troeth said.

The Investing in Our Schools Programme builds on the $1.5 billion already allocated by the Australian Government for school capital works over the next four years.

"During 2005-08, the Programme will provide an additional $300 million in capital funding to Independent schools, as promised during the 2004 Federal election campaign," Senator Troeth said.
