Kingsford Smith Local 2020 Summit

Peter Garrett AM Federal Member for Kingsford Smith Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts

05 April 2008

The Kingsford Smith Local 2020 Summit kicked off today at the University of NSW in Kensington with a host of innovative thinkers and practitioners.

Up to 100 Kingsford Smith constituents and interested parties discussed their ideas on the topics of ‘Towards a Creative Society’ and ‘A National Approach to Environmental Sustainability’.

Included in this morning’s discussion on ‘Towards a Creative Australia’ were actor and producer Jeremy Sims, noted choreographer Meryl Tankard, Animal Logic director Greg Smith and popular performer Rhys Muldoon.

Climate researcher Matthew England, business adviser Michael Molitor and scientist Dr Karl Kruszelnicki were amongst the participants to discuss ‘A National Approach to Environmental Sustainability’.

The Prime Minister has called for ideas from our best and brightest and from our whole community. It was terrific to see the residents of Kingsford Smith contributing to the Australia 2020 Summit process today.
