Equipment to support local volunteers

Twenty-eight organisations in the Calare electorate will receive funding from the Australian Government to purchase vital equipment for volunteers, NSW Senator Sandy Macdonald announced today.

“The Volunteer Small Equipment Grants program has been so successful, the Australian Government received more than 8000 applications for funding in the latest round,” Senator Macdonald said.

“Central West volunteer organisations have received a total of more than $68,000 in grants.”

“More than $7 million has been allocated to volunteer organisations across Australia in this round of funding.”

“Grants are used for organisations to purchase essential equipment, which helps make the jobs of their volunteers easier,” Senator Macdonald said.

“All the people involved with these organisations have given up their own time to help the community in fields including emergency services, sport, the environment and tourism.”

“The grants have been used for purchasing items such as refrigerators, UHF Radios and computer equipment.”

Senator Macdonald said this latest round of funding is the sixth time the Australian Government has committed its financial support directly to volunteers since 2001, bringing the total funding to over $26 million, distributed to approximately 11,500 community organisations.

“The Australian Government is committed to supporting the important work volunteers do in our local communities.”

A list of successful applicants is attached.
