Local Small and Home-based Business Seminar - Open for Business

Friday, 16 September 2005

Federal Member for Gwydir, John Anderson today urged small and home-based businesses in his electorate to take advantage of the Small and Home-Based Business seminars being held soon in Orange and Tamworth.

“Participants at the seminar will be addressed by experts, including the Australian Tax Office, IP Australia and Austrade, who will cover topics such as starting a home-based business, business planning; risk management; and marketing,” Mr Anderson said.

The latest series of seminars in the Australian Government’s Home-Based Business Seminars initiative designed to help small operators in regional Australia improve their business were recently launched.

“It is important that small and home-based businesses are aware of all the elements that are integral to running a successful small business.

“The Australian Government has recognised that small and home-based businesses play a vital role in the community through job creation and economic growth.

Small Business Field Officers are always on hand to deal with queries from small and home-based businesses in the community. The highly successful Small Business Field Officer national network has helped answer more than one million queries from small businesses since it was introduced about two and half years ago.
