Viarsa 1 arrival - update

The Australian Government has today released details of the current location of the vessel suspected of illegally fishing for Patagonian toothfish in Australia's Southern Ocean.

The Viarsa 1 was about 700 nautical miles west of Fremantle at midday (Monday September 29), and was travelling towards the Western Australian coast at a speed of about eight knots.

Fisheries Minister Senator Ian Macdonald, and Justice and Customs Minister Senator Chris Ellison, said the Viarsa 1 and the Australian Customs boat Southern Supporter were expected to arrive in Fremantle on Thursday morning (October 2).
