Title: Grants Assist for Future Generations

The Cobargo RSL Sub-branch and the Eurobodalla Far South Coast National Servicemen’s Association of Australia have both received assistance from the Australian Government’s Commemorations program, Saluting Their Service, Federal Member for Eden-Monaro, Gary Nairn, said.

Mr Nairn said funding had been approved by the Minister for Veteran’s Affairs, De-Anne Kelly.

“Saluting Their Service encourages communities to remember and honour the contribution made by Australians who have served in wars, conflicts and peace operations since Federation,” Mr Nairn said.

“The projects to be undertaken by these organisations will provide a fitting tribute to their district’s servicemen and women and ensure their sacrifice and service is not forgotten by future generations.”

Since the launch of the commemorations program in 1997, more than $9 million in grants to more than 4 000 ex-service and community organisations has been approved.

Projects supported have included the restoration and construction of community war memorials, displays of wartime memorabilia and commemoration of significant wartime anniversaries.
