VINCENT POLICE BEAT TO GO AHEAD

Tuesday, 27 September 2005

Member for Herbert, Peter Lindsay, today announced the transfer of the former Defence Community Organisation property at 1 Ronan Street, Vincent, Townsville, to the Queensland Police Service. “I am pleased to announce that the transfer of the Defence property in Vincent has been settled,” Peter Lindsay MP said. “I have been working hard behind the scenes to pave the way for the Defence land to be sold to the Queensland Government, so work can commence on establishing a neighbourhood police beat in Vincent,” Mr Lindsay said. “Crime and other problems have become an issue in Vincent and the neighbouring Heatley area. Local residents will welcome today’s news that they will soon have a much needed neighbourhood police beat in their area,” he said. “The local Neighbourhood Watch group will also be delighted that the Queensland Police Service can now have ownership of the former defence property,” Mr Lindsay said. “The property is a prime location for a police beat, and the buildings on the site require minimal work to be suitable for use almost immediately.”
