PM should apologise for disruption not Bush

31st Aug 07

Greens Senator Kerry Nettle today called on the Prime Minister John

Howard to apologise to Sydneysiders for the massive inconvenience

of hosting the APEC meeting.

"George Bush has apologised for the unnecessary inconvenience to

Sydneysiders but it is the Prime Minister's fault, he should be the

one apologising," Senator Nettle said.

"In forcing Sydney to host the APEC meeting John Howard has

arranged the most expensive and elaborate election campaign

launch in Australian political history.

"It's embarrassing that the President of the United States has seen

fit to apologise for the predictable impact of his visit to the CBD of

Sydney but the Prime Minister cannot."
