Woodend Schools visit Parliament

MEDIA RELEASE 9 March 2004

Classes from two schools from Woodend, St Ambrose Parish School and Braemer College, had the opportunity to meet their federal Member of Parliament, Brendan O’Connor, when they made separate visits to Parliament House in Canberra last week.

Students heard about life as a parliamentarian and the role of politics in society and had the opportunity to ask Brendan questions. With a federal election most likely this year, many students and staff were keen to hear what Brendan had to say about education and other issues relating to schools and learning. Other students just wanted to know which AFL team Brendan supported! The visits were part of general excursions to the national capital, which included visits to the War Memorial and other Canberra landmarks. If you or your school are visiting Parliament House in Canberra and you would like Brendan to address you, please contact the electoral office on 1300-653421 or 9744-7988 beforehand.
