CONDOLENCES FOR AUSSIE DIGGER

The Shadow Minister for Defence Science, Personnel and Assisting Shadow Minister for Defence, Bob Baldwin, has extended his condolences to the family and colleagues of the Australian Army soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Jason Marks, 27, from the 4th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment was killed when his patrol was engaged by Taliban extremists in Oruzgan province approximately 25km to the southeast of Tarin Kowt.

Mr Baldwin said his best wishes went to the four soldiers wounded in the attack, and to their families at home.

“This loss of a brave young Australian highlights the extreme danger our defence personnel face daily in their important work in the fight against the Taliban,” he said.

“All serving defence personnel overseas are owed a debt of gratitude from the nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.”
