Member for Wannon - David Hawker - said today he was more determined than ever to represent the people of Wannon.

Mr. Hawker was speaking after the closure of Liberal Party preselections for the next Federal election, which saw him unopposed.

“I am absolutely delighted with the support I get from both from local people and the Liberal Party and I am looking forward to continuing to work for the people of Wannon,” Mr. Hawker said.

“These are exciting times for our part of Victoria, but I acknowledge there is still work to be done.”

Mr. Hawker was first elected in a Wannon by-election in May 1983 after the retirement of former Prime Minister - Malcolm Fraser.

He has won every election since and currently holds Wannon by a margin of nearly 10 per cent.
