Both Ministers expressed appreciation for the goodwill on all sides in addressing what has been a difficult issue for the parties.

The commitment to negotiate in good faith in respect of all ANL industrial arrangements should result in the Government’s objectives being achieved. These are to protect the taxpayer against further losses and to maintain Australian seafarers' jobs under the Australian flag and award conditions.
