Greens histrionics no answer

“The grandstanding of the Greens’ Senator Nettle over the Cornelia Rau case helps no-one, including Cornelia Rau”, Labor’s Spokesman for Immigration, Laurie Ferguson said today.

“After an initial outburst in her press release against the Democrats and Labor, Senator Nettle promised to reintroduce her Senate resolution after the Palmer Inquiry and stated that she expected the other parties to support it.

“This is an admission of realities rather than rhetoric. There is an inquiry which Labor believes is inadequate as it lacks judicial powers. Whilst the Government has not relented it has given the inquiry more time and has provided reasonable resources”, Mr Ferguson said

“Labor prefers to look at the results rather than engage in the possibly pointless drama and repeat hearings of a Senate inquiry. We will determine our position after the Palmer Inquiry”. Mr Ferguson added
