DEFENCE PERSONNEL TO RECEIVE HONOURS LIST AWARDS

Twenty nine Defence personnel will receive their Honours List awards at two investiture ceremonies to be held at Government House today.

Defence Minister Robert Hill will attend the ceremonies to congratulate the recipients, who were recognised in Honours Lists for Australia Day, Operation Falconer last November and the Queens Birthday 2003.

Senator Hill said the awards recognised the achievements of Australian Defence Force and Department of Defence personnel at home and overseas.

“We ask a lot of our Defence personnel, both military and civilian,” Senator Hill said.

“These awards reflect the extraordinary achievements of individuals as well as the professionalism and commitment of all those who serve our nation.

“I congratulate all the award winners on a job well done.”

The investiture ceremony in Canberra is one of a series organised by Government House that take place around Australia throughout the year.

A list of Defence recipients is available on the Defence website at http://www.defence.gov.au/media/download/2004/jan/260104/Defence%20Honours%20List%20Australia%20D ay%202004.pdf and more information about the Australian Honours can be found at www.itsanhonour.gov.au.
