2009 Australian Government Scholarships for Career Advisers

The Minister for Education, Julia Gillard today congratulated 96 Australians who have been awarded

Australian Government Scholarships for Career Advisers.

‘Study scholarships’ worth $5000 each will provide support for 76 people to undertake post-graduate studies

and upgrade their career adviser skills and qualifications.

The 20 recipients of ‘Industry Scholarships’ worth $10,000 each will undertake short-term placements in a

range of workplaces, occupations and industries.

The placements will expand the career advisors’ knowledge of various industries, and will in turn benefit the

students and other clients assisted by the adviser.

The recipients of the 2009 scholarships will be supported as they build their knowledge and skills through

industry placements or further studies.

Recipients of the scholarships were selected from metropolitan, regional and remote areas across Australia.

The annual Scholarship for Career Advisers program is part of the Australian Government’s Career Advice

Australia initiative, complementing a range of other career development strategies.
