WHERE IS THE DIALYSIS UNIT FOR NELSON BAY?

Paterson MP Bob Baldwin has called on the Rudd Labor Government to fund a renal dialysis unit at Nelson Bay.

Mr Baldwin was stunned to hear Health Minister Nicola Roxon tell Federal Parliament today about Jon Sullivan, the Member for Longman in Queensland:

“having recently secured $7 million for 12 new dialysis chairs in his electorate.”

Mr Baldwin said he wrote to the Minister earlier this year about the need for a dialysis unit at Tomaree Hospital in Nelson Bay.

“The Parliamentary Secretary Jan McClucas wrote back to me advising me to raise my constituents’ concerns directly with the New South Wales Minister for Health.

“So much for Kevin Rudd’s promise to end the blame game between the state and federal governments.

“Why should a Labor held seat in Queensland be able to receive the funding yet for the residents of Tomaree, we have to go begging to the State Labor Government.

“Not good enough Ms Roxon. Shame.”
