Northern Territory—Greens set for major campaign

The Greens’ excellent candidates and policies will give Northern Territory voters good options for progress in the Territory at the 9 August elections, Australian Greens Leader Senator Bob Brown said today.

The Territory Greens plan to stand in selected seats and will promote the Territory’s future with clean, renewable energy, a better deal for teachers, a boost for public housing and a future free of the uranium mine planned by Cameco just south of Alice Springs. Reducing the life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians is high on the Greens agenda.

Jane Clark has resigned her position as an Alice Springs alderman to contest Braitling for the Greens and Senator Brown said he is looking forward to joining the Greens during this short, sharp election campaign which is sure to provide some upset results.
