The Hon Bob Baldwin MP Federal Member for Paterson

8 August 2008

He’s scaled fish, swept floors, brewed coffee and washed dishes but this year Paterson MP Bob Baldwin will find out what it’s like to serve behind the counter at a community pharmacy as part of the Pollies for Small Business Week.

Bob Baldwin will work at the Terrace Plaza Amcal Pharmacy in the Centro Plaza at Raymond Terrace from 10.15am to 12.15pm on Monday, August 11, 2008.

The program, which is organised by the NSW Chamber of Commerce aims to give politicians an insight into the everyday workings of a small business and is also an opportunity for small businesses to discuss issues with their local member.

“It’s great to again be involved with the Pollies for Small business Program and experience the day to day pressures facing small business operators,” said Mr Baldwin.

“I have a small business background so I understand what it’s like to make an investment in your future, to have employees and to juggle rising interest rates and pressures such as rising fuel costs.

“Already the Rudd Labor Government has axed nearly $1 billion in business assistance programs which helped foster innovation and build entrepreneurship. This was important funding for businesses in the Paterson electorate which have played a key role in hiring new employees and bringing down unemployment.”

Mr Baldwin has previously been involved in the Pollies for Small Business Program at a butcher shop, a bakery, a trucking company and at a fishing co-op.
