Last chance to donate to McPherson Christmas Tree Appeal!

Federal Member for McPherson, Margaret May MP is urging locals to donate now in the last three weeks of her annual McPherson Christmas Tree Appeal run in partnership with the Salvation Army.

“With only two weeks to go until the Salvation Army start to assemble their Christmas Hampers for disadvantaged families on the southern Gold Coast, the communities support is still needed, Margaret said.

“So far the response has been overwhelming with the Rotary Club of Ashmore donating 500 cans of ham, $500 worth of goods promised from the Palm Beach Lioness Club and an anonymous Good Samaritan donated a whole car full of goods including Christmas pies, custard, Santa chocolates and other treats!

“I urge everyone to support the 2008 McPherson Christmas Tree Appeal and drop into my office at 1045 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach with non perishable goods.

“Anything suitable for a Christmas hamper is welcome including tinned hams, tinned vegetables, tinned fruit, Christmas cakes, puddings, sweets, chocolates, soft drinks, potato crisps, nuts, dried fruit or mince pies.

“Christmas is an expensive time of year but I encourage you to dig just a little deeper to donate. Anything you can spare will help the Salvation Army make up their wonderful Christmas hampers and give them to those most urgently in need, Margaret said.
