Lee Rhiannon and the Greens want death duties

12-August-2010 Source: Senator Fiona Nash - A vote for the Greens NSW Senate candidate, Lee Rhiannon, is a vote for death duties. “Taxing an estate owned by someone who dies is never popular. It’s also an unfair financial burden on the person who inherits the estate,” NSW Nationals Senator, Fiona Nash said. “If Lee Rhiannon and her Green cohorts get the balance of power in federal parliament, they’ll want to tax the dead.” The Greens have an alarming tax agenda, which also includes: - An Emissions Trading Scheme that will push up electricity prices; and - Abolishing the 30 per cent Private Health Rebate, putting more pressure on public hospitals. “Industry affected by an ETS will also be forced to raise costs to make ends meet,” Senator Nash said. “We hear on a daily basis about families struggling with rising costs. Voting for Lee Rhiannon and the Greens will only make it worse. “The Nationals instead are committed to making it easier for regional communities.”
