Media release: Maroubra Junction Public School - Opening of new facilities

11 June 2008

Peter Garrett AM, the Member for Kingsford Smith, attended the official opening of new facilities at Maroubra Junction Public School. Peter was joined by his state colleague, Michael Daley, the Member for Maroubra.

This extensive project, with works totalling $9.811 million, involved joint funding with the federal government providing $5 million and the state government providing $4.811 million.

“These outstanding facilities will help ensure all students at Maroubra Junction Public School are encouraged to realise their full potential and attain their goals,” said Mr Garrett.

“This project demonstrates the Rudd Government’s commitment to providing every student with the best possible learning environment through the provision of these facilities.

“I congratulate the school community for its role in achieving the best possible facilities for their students.”

The Rudd Government provides significant funding under the Capital Grants Program to support the construction and upgrading of schools in partnership with state and territory governments, non-government school authorities and school communities.

The Capital Grants Program will deliver over $436 million in 2008 for school capital projects. Of this, over $309 million will be provided for state and territory government schools.

The Rudd Government has promised an education revolution, and that’s what we’re delivering.
