FITZGIBBON ANNOUNCES BUSHFIRE MITIGATION FUNDING

Federal Member for Hunter, Joel Fitzgibbon, today announced the approval of funding totalling $168,175 under the Bushfire Mitigation Program.

The approved projects are listed below;

Timor Creek Trail at Wollombi received $8,175 Pinnacle Trail at Cessnock received $15,000 Swamp Creek Trail at Cessnock received $37,500 Martindale Trail - Parachute Section at Denman received $20,000 Mailmans Gap/Kerrabee Trails at Denman received and $3,000 Cedar Trail at Singleton received $20,000 Hunter Main Trail at Singleton received $37,500 Policemans/Parsons Trail at Merriwa received $4,500 Broke and Doyles Creek Perimeter Fire Trail at Broke received $21,000 Mt Helen at Murrurundi received $1,500.

“The funding will help construction, maintenance and signage works on Australia’s extensive network of bushfire trails.”

“Bushfires are part and parcel of Australian life”, Mr Fitzgibbon said. “This makes it imperative to ensure that when bushfires hit, firefighters can get to the scene quickly and safely.”

The Bushfire Mitigation Program helps make this happen by bringing together State fire suppression and land management agencies with local governments to identify and address the most critical fire trail works.
