Molong to benefit from Early Childhood Services initiative

Molong residents will benefit from an additional employee at the Molong Family Day Care Cottage with the help of $143,000 funding, NSW Senator Sandy Macdonald announced today.

The Molong centre is one of 19 Child Care Links sites to be set up across Australia with $2.9 million funding.

“The Child Care Links employee will operate from the Molong Family Day Care Cottage which will be developed as a hub for the community,” Senator Macdonald said.

“This person will be an advocate for quality child care and will help connect parents with information and support relating to parenting skills, social interaction and local initiatives.”

Senator Macdonald said it is important the role of quality child care is promoted in all communities.

“This funding is part of the $10 million committed by the Prime Minister earlier this year from the Stronger Families and Communities Strategy to support more early childhood intervention and prevention projects.”

“The $143,000 allocated to Molong will be used to manage the Child Care Links project over 18 months.”

“These projects build on the contribution the Australian Government is already making to protect young children and promote their interests.”

“All levels of Government and the community have a vital role to play to ensure Australia’s children have a bright future. The most effective way to assist children and prevent abuse is through intervention and assistance for families in the crucial early years of childhood,” Senator Macdonald said.
