04/04/2005

Finalists in the 2005 National Youth Week Talent Competitions - RockIT, WriteIT, ShootIT, DesignIT and SnapIT - have been announced on the National Youth Week website, www.youthweek.com.

Parliamentary Secretary for Children and Youth Affairs, the Hon Sussan Ley, invited all Australians to view the finalists' entries and vote on line for their favourite.

"Hundreds of young people across Australia have entered the National Talent Competitions and we were impressed by the high standard of entries which showcased their varied talents," Mrs Ley said.

"The National Talent Competition judges have considered hundreds of entries and short-listed five in all age categories for each of the RockIT, WriteIT, ShootIT, DesignIT and SnapIT competitions.

"From today, people across Australia can view the finalists' entries and vote online through View and Vote at www.youthweek.com.

"View and Vote will be available from 4-18 April 2005, the on-line votes will then be counted and the winners will be announced on 5 May 2005," Mrs Ley said.

Finalists in the National Talent Competitions are in the running to win fantastic prizes and opportunities for work experience in their chosen industry.

National Youth Week 2005 will run from 9 - 17 April and is a joint Australian, State, Territory and Local Government initiative.
