WONG MUST COME CLEAN ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY TASK GROUP: DOES IT RECOMMEND HIGHER ELECTRICITY PRICES?

Minister for Climate Action Penny Wong must immediately release the report of the Task Group on Energy Efficiency.

The report was due in mid-2010, and the Coalition understands it has been delivered to Government.

The Coalition further understands the report contains recommendations that would further increase electricity bills for Australian families and businesses.

The Task Group on Energy Efficiency was formed by Prime Minister Rudd, and was due to report to the Prime Minister through the Minister for Climate Change in mid 2010.

Penny Wong must release this report, share its findings with the Australian people and come clean with the public about it effect on future electricity prices.

Members of the Task Group were: Greg Bourne, John Connor, Karen Moses, Cameron O’Reilly, Rob Murray-Leach, Dr Brian Spalding, Neil Marshman, Sharan Burrow, Clare Martin.

Penny Wong needs to level with families and release the findings of this report and tell the public which recommendations Labor will adopt.

Labor cannot keep the findings of the Task Group on Energy Efficiency secret any longer.

If Penny Wong wants to win the trust of the Australian public, she needs to release this report.
