The Minister for the Interior, Mr Peter Nixon,

announced today that most street names in Scullin, a new suburb in the Belconnen area, would be named after pioneers

of aviation.

Mnong the names to be used were those of Sir Charles

Kingsford Smith, Sir Ross and Keith Smith, Charles Ulm, James

Irollison, Bert Hinkler, Raymond Parer, John 'McIntosh, Paul

MoGinness, ;falter Shiers and Sir Ivan Holman.

Mr Nixon said that Southern Cross, the name of

Sir Charles Kingsford Smith's aircraft, and Jind ,vik and Wirravaay, names of two Australian built aircraft, would also

be used.

The street mains signs would be erected as soon as possible.
